Many times I have been asked "where do you get all your models?" or have heard the comment "all your subjects look like models!". Although I do shoot fashion, the majority of my subjects are not models at all. As a matter of fact, in my current portfolio/website/FB there are only three professional models and I would imagine you might have difficulty in identifying them!
I do consider myself more of a beauty photographer as opposed to a "fashion" photographer. The reason is that I believe there is beauty in every person and it is my goal to bring it out in my photography! I do this by making the session fun and putting my subjects at ease by accentuating their best features. This builds confidence in my subjects which in turn is conveyed in the image. The funny thing is that a lot of times I will use my portrait customers in fashion projects since I know we can work together to get the "professional model" look.
